12″x12″ Aquabord, covered with computer printout of the sketch and carbon paper.

Finally, more progress on the Celtic mandala, Triskittehs.

I decided to use a 12″x12″ Aquabord ground for the artwork so the details of the knotwork will be easily visible when the art is hanging on the wall.  This required blowing up the sketch and printing it out on two sheets of paper.  I then taped that to the ground (Aquabord), with carbon paper underneath.  I initially did the transfer using a bamboo pen as a stylus, but it was too easy to loose track of what I had already traced, so I switched to a ball point pen.

I transferred the design using carbon paper.  There are definitely some errors in the transfer (especially on the lower kitteh in the mandala, and the upper kitty is missing one foot), but that’s fine.  These marks are not permanent.  They are guidelines for inking the design, which is the next step.
