New Tutorial - Adding a Bust Ribbon

The bust ribbon is a small ribbon along the top of the bust which can be tightened to cinch in the top of the bust slightly, or just tied into a nice little bow for decoration. This tutorial shows the bust ribbon added to a corded Regency style corset, and I used narrow silk taffeta.

New Tutorial - Regency Fan Lacing

Since I can no longer physically make anything most days, on those days when I am feeling mentally capable I am going back through my blog and converting some of my blog posts into coherent tutorials.  The first series of blog entries I am re-writing is the corded Regency corset, and in the process I am pulling out information that deserves separate tutorials. I got back the results of some of the blood tests today. I won’t be seeing the doctor until March 20th, so I won’t be able to get her take on it for a while yet. I have been ill for six years, disabled for two, and have only now finally received a diagnosis. The path to that diagnosis has been a constant battle with the health care system in the US, its reluctance to treat those who don’t have financial resources to bleed, and its reluctance to acknowledge that my illness is real and debilitating. No other country in the Western world would have forced me to go through all this hell. In no other Western country would I have had to research my own illness, research to find a doctor competent to diagnose and [...]

Art - The Longest Night (drawing)

I have been wanting to create at least one piece of art for the coming Yule, so in the previous two days, between housecleaning in preparation for a holiday visit, I created “The Longest Night”. It’s a drawing of a stag, representing the horned lord of the forest, pausing in the moonlight on the night of the winter solstice.
