Cover Options – Pattern Matching

Pattern matching is when the cover material involves some sort of a pattern which is matched as closely as possible at the seams. Perfect matching is not usually possible due to the shaping of corsets, but pleasing effects can be achieved. The added cost of pattern matching is due to the extra time involved in cutting the material, and the added yardage needed.

Gothic Brocade Overbust

The pattern on this fabric is made entirely of circles and squares, so the matching was a bit akward before the addition of the boning embellishments. The ribbon over the boning helps to break up the design a bit, and tricks the mind into seeing a completely coherent pattern match.

Linen and Velveteen Pattern-Matched Corset

This material was an upholstery linen blend with velveteen cutwork in a large repetition. It is matched at the front and back openings, and as closely as possible along all seams.

Brocade and Leather Steam

The stripes are matched so the colored and patterned areas do not clash along the seams.
