It is hand-stitched designs created at the tip of corset bones to secure them in place. The functional purposes are to prevent bunching of fabric over the boning and reduce wear at the boning ends. Aesthetically, it adds a beautiful touch to any corset. Flossing may be added to a corset at any time, even years after the corset was made. It also requires no specific knowledge of corset making or sewing. A basic knowledge of embroidery is helpful. This booklet illustrates some of the basic embroidery patterns I have used for flossing, gives tips relating specifically to corset flossing, and assumes you have a basic working knowledge of embroidery.”
