The background on this one is a smooth-mixed plum color, diluted with a lot of gloss medium and applied with a very soft brush. I need to buy myself a couple true purples, and a magenta or fuschia. I started this piece by painting in the zebra stripes in white paint, using a lot of paint so I had ridges along the edges of the stripes. Texture was created with modeling paste, applied with a squeezy tube thing and shaped with a small palette knife. To apply the green and blue paint, I mixed each with enough water to break the acrylic binders, and then brushed them on in horizontal strokes with a very soft brush. To keep it wet (and blending the way I wanted) I periodically spritzed it with plain water from a spray bottle. Playing with paints. It's fun seeing what the paints do on something where it's not critical that the colors turn out just so.
