Micron pen on smooth press paper, 5"x7".]]> Zoomorphs Tue, 30 Jan 2007 00:00:00 -0800 I took this photo with my digital camera, but it really doesn't do the colors justice, and doesn't show the metallic inks at all. The drawing has now gone to its home.

This is the second spiral knotwork goldfish of this scale and complexity I have drawn, and I am still considering doing an entire series of them. Amusingly, the other was the last knotwork piece I drew starting in 2003. I didn't finish that piece until 2005, and drew no other Celtic artwork in the interim. It took about two weeks to draw this goldfish, start to finish.

It is entirely hand drawn, inked, and painted. I did not use a compas, curve, or any other drafting tools. The original is roughly 8"x10", micron pens and Copic markers on white smooth press paper. Metallic accents on the scales and the spirals are painted on in acrylic ink. Roughly 50 hours of work. The original is not for sale.

An older celtic knotwork piece. I originally printed this design as note cards. When deciding what subject to draw, I decided on hummingbirds because I see them from time to time where I live in California.
