Nonbinary Ritual at Pantheacon 2020
7:00pm, Saturday February 15, 2020
Pantheacon, in the Doubletree Hotel near the San Jose International Airport in California
People of all gender identities are welcome, binary and nonbinary alike. The focus of the ritual will be to facilitate a nonbinary perspective of reality through celebration of nonbinary gender divinities, and the richness diversity brings to our communities. Traditionally binary divinities will be acknowledged and reframed as equal in import to all other genders.
The ritual will open and close with an open circle elemental invocation featuring the four standard elements (earth, air, fire, water) plus spirit/void. An open circle means that the space designated as sacred is protected, dedicated, and potent, but not restrictive or cut off from the surrounding world. Humans, deities, spirits, and all others who are beneficial to the ritual may come and go as they please without fear of disruption. By focusing on the interrelated natures of the elements, while casting aside arbitrary associations such as gender, we can seek a greater understanding of our own interrelation to each other and the physical and metaphysical worlds around us.
During the ritual we will invoke and explore archetypes for divine feminine, divine masculine, divine intergender, divine genderfluid, and divine agender. We will also acknowledge that there are far more gender divinities than just these five, and how to explore them further, for no matter what your personal gender is, we all carry with us the spark of divinity which can tap into all potentials.
Attendees will be invited to acknowledge and welcome deities, spirits, beings, and people who are nonbinary, be they well known major deities from established pantheons, natural or supernatural beings, ancestors and personal guides, or a living person who inspires. Attendees are invited to bring items that honor such beings, spirits, and people, and these items may receive group blessing.
We will honor the unique perspectives of those who exist outside the gender binary, and the beautiful diversity they bring to our communities. We will ask for blessings to bring full acceptance of greater diversity into our hearts and our communities to more fully celebrate our differences and discover our similarities. We will celebrate the fact that when we open our hearts to more possibilities, we allow ourselves to be more complete and whole beings.
