The Balancing Path (prose) Witchcraft

Sacramento Pagan Pride

Gender Diversity Symbol (hi-res)

Attention Sacramento area people!

I will be leading two discussions and officiating a non-binary ritual at Sacramento Pagan Pride 20th Annual Harvest Festival on Saturday, September 14th. Details below, and hope to see you there! Please share.

*12:30pm How to Make a Personal Altar – We’ll discuss the most typical and “basic” types of tools and altar spaces, why they are popular, and the basics of how to find, create, cleanse, and dedicate the things that sing to your personal practice, whatever form it may take.

*3:30pm Embracing Gender Diversity in the Pagan Community (Labeled “Intro to Non-Binary Pagans” in the official schedule) – Join us as we challenge the traits commonly associated with masculine and feminine divinity, explore the traits to be found in non-binary divinity, discuss the pitfalls of over-emphasizing the archetypes of gender binary in community and personal practice, debate how to create more inclusive rituals and events, and explore why it’s important even if you “know” everyone involved is cis gendered.

*4:00pm Non-Binary Ritual (labeled “Ritual for Non-Binary Pagans” in the official schedule) – The focus of the ritual will be celebrating non-binary, agender, and gender fluid divine, and the interplay of variously gendered divinity that exists in all humans. Masculine and feminine divine will be acknowledged as equal in import to any other gender. All genders and gender identities are welcome to attend.

The ritual will open and close with an elemental invocation featuring the four standard elements (earth, air, fire, water) plus spirit/void. By focusing on the interrelated natures of the elements, while casting aside arbitrary associations such as gender, we can seek a greater understanding of our own interrelation to each other and the physical and metaphysical worlds around us.

During the ritual attendees will be invited to acknowledge and welcome deities, spirits, beings, and people who are non-binary, agender, or gender fluid, be they well known major deities from established pantheons, natural or supernatural beings, ancestors and personal guides, or a living person who inspires. Attendees are invited to bring items that honor such beings, spirits, and people, and these items may receive group blessing.

We will honor the unique perspectives of those outside the gender binary, and the beautiful diversity they bring to our communities. We will celebrate forms of fertility, love, and family that exist outside the gender binary archetypes. We will ask for blessings to bring full acceptance of greater diversity into our hearts and our communities to more fully celebrate our differences and discover our similarities. We will celebrate the fact that when we open our hearts to more possibilities, we allow ourselves to be more complete and whole beings.

The event is Saturday and Sunday, starting at 10am.
