Art: Mobius Death

The idea for Mobius Death came to me when I was trying to sleep, the first day California was in lockdown from COVID-19, but I was dealing with tremors in my hands, and was generally busy trying to make sure I had everything I would need for the next few weeks. After that, writing seemed much more pressing, but the image stayed clear in my head. Last night, I finally sat down and put that idea to paper.

Death represents change – dramatic, irrevocable change. I have seen a lot of people declaring that these are Tower card times, but they are also Death card and Hanged Man times. The foundations upon which we have stood (or been stood upon) are crumbling. Things are changing in massive ways, not just in regards to health, but in regards to social upheaval, and guaranteed, for good or ill, things will not be going entirely back to the way they were. And, we have the looming specter of pandemic which is taking lives, and leaving many survivors with life-long chronic health problems.

Death is an endless cycle of changes, each feeding into the next. When we accept the inevitable and transitional nature of death, we can work with it and move into the next stage with eyes open, head held high, and the will and ability to help manifest what we want the next stage to be. The cycle of the lines of Mobius Death represents that death is not truly the end, but merely a transition. The scythe flows into the cowl, flows into the sleeve, crosses the scythe and flows into the robe, curves along the bottom, and flows into the scythe, completing the cycle.

I am contemplating making this image available on some items print-on-demand (shirts, and I’m not sure what else). If that would interest you, please let me know.
