Corsets Sewing

Basic Long-Line Edwardian

This is a back-dated post for my archive project, where I am copying over every piece of art I have ever submitted to DeviantArt, with the original submission date or watermarked year stamp, so a complete archive of my work can be found on this website, even if the item was never or is no longer displayed in my portfolios.

Commissioned basic Edwardian long-line corset. A long-line corset is one that completely covers the hips, and is longer in front than a busk can comfortably go. This is as short as a long-line corset can be, but they can also extend as far as the knees, and are designed to control the shape of the hips and/or thighs. In the period this style of corset would normally include built-in garters.

It’s made from two layers of corset coutil, very lightly tea stained. The boning at the bust is 1/4″ flats, and along the sides it is 1/2″ flats. The lace is rayon, and sewn along the top edge. The edging on top and bottom is tea-stained cotton twill tape. The busk has a backing bone.
