Fine Art Still Life Work in Progress

Coffee and A Doughnut

This is a back-dated post for my archive project, where I am copying over every piece of art I have ever submitted to DeviantArt, with the original submission date or watermarked year stamp, so a complete archive of my work can be found on this website, even if the item was never or is no longer displayed in my portfolios.

Title: Coffee and A Doughnut, Artist: Sidney Eileen, Medium: oils on canvas board
Coffee and A Doughnut

9″x12″, oil paint on canvas board
3 layers of paint
Reference: My own photo (the doughnut was tasty)

Another class project.

Final layer:
Finished the grout between the tiles. Using scrumbling (sp?) and a lot of medium, I added highlighting to the coffee and the doughnut, and some steam swirls.

Synopsis of earlier layers:
First layer was the tile color and grout in the shadows, plus the doughnut and the coffee. Second layer was the white of the napkin and coffee cup.

I added the paint defining the cup and the napkin. It’s made with undiluted oils. I painted white first, and then added the shading with black paint, blending on the canvas.
