I was asked about the pattern for the gothic brocade overbust corset in my portfolio, because it has the “V” shape to the panels in the front, continuing smoothly over the bust. I made that corset last fall, before I had this blog set up on my web site, so I had never even photographed the scale pattern until tonight.
Basically, the flat part of the front I split up on the diagonal, rather than the vertical as is normally done. That line continues over the bust, expanding mostly evenly relative to that angle on all panels to create the extra space for the bust. The rest of the corset is a rather typical panel shape.
