Sewing Work in Progress

Steampunk Violin Vest Final – WIP 1

I have resumed work on the Violin Vest, creating the final version.  This one is slightly larger than the previous, and I altered the pattern so the breast seam runs to the side of the double-breast, rather than straight down the center front.  I am also adding the striping detail to all breast panels, rather than just two of them.

This image shows the marks for placing the contrast bars.  I created identical marks on all four breast pieces and sewed them while they could lay flat and even, to ensure they line up properly when fully assembled.

One breast panel, marked for placement of the accent bars.

At present, the pieces are all cut out, and I have sewn the contrast bars onto each piece which requires them (breast panels, collar, and lapel pieces).  I have only assembled the brown canvas body pieces, so I can paint them before finishing the assembly.

The brown canvas body pieces are sewn together.

Next I will be painting the violin on the vest.  I’m hoping to have this finished before next Saturday, when I want to deliver the finished project.
