Blue Pilgrim Bag Finished
I finished the Blue Pilgrim Bag the first week of November. Â I had been contemplating doing a lot more embroidery on it, but when I got to this point I decided I was tired of the project and it looked complete without adding more, so I stopped. Â If I decide at a later date that I want to resume embroidering on it, I can always remove the lining from the cover and add more.
The base fabric is I think cotton, woven with a diamond pattern in a short pile. Â I filled in some of the diamonds on the cover flap with DMC cotton embroidery floss using brick stitch. Â The lining is lightweight linen, whip stitched into place. Â The shoulder strap is my very first card weaving project, which I wove so tightly that it ended up with a texture to it. Â It is entirely hand sewn.
The project was inspired by pilgrim bags of the middle ages, and is a large enough size to hold an embroidery project, papers, or books when I am at reenactment events.
